The Konspicuous Foundation was founded to empower individuals, families and businesses through education and access to resources. The organization is dedicated to promoting financial literacy, supporting entrepreneurship, and advancing social justice to create a more equitable world.
“Financial education and literacy are more than just math; it's about mastering your money instead of becoming a slave to it.”
The Origin of "Being Konspicuous"
The Konspicuous concept was born on November 22, 1986, on the campus of Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville, TN. During a football game against Alabama A&M University, the Alpha Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. introduced its newest and long-awaited inductees—29 distinguished young men—to the TSU campus.
Wearing distinctive crimson sport coats, their presence and the celebration surrounding them captured the attention of the entire stadium. This defining moment inspired the name Konspicuous 29—a word that embodies standing out, attracting notice, and making an impact. The spelling, with a K instead of a C, was intentionally chosen to make the word itself bold and unique—a reflection of the very essence of being Konspicuous.
Since that day, Konspicuous 29 has lived up to its name, constantly challenging the ordinary, embracing distinction, and striving for excellence. We continue to ask ourselves in all endeavors:
"Was it Konspicuous?"
